Junior Literary Cometition 2011/2012

To all secondary Teachers and Students.

Dear Teachers and Students,

We propose running a seperate Literary Competition this year to facilitate Junior and Leaving Certificate students in the CDVEC. This will be run this year by the SCC on a pilot basis to establish if there is sufficient interest in same.

The aim of the competition is to promote creative writing in our colleges and to provide encouragement to our students with the promise of our Award and Presentation of prizes.

There will be 2 categories:

(a) Short Story

(b) Poetry

There will be 2 Age categories:

(a) Age 12 - 15

(b) Age 15 - 18

Each school is requested to short list, proof and type entries. Students are advised that Short Story/ Memoir entries should be confined to a maximun of 3 typed A4 pages (approx.).

The closing date for entries is Monday February 27th 2012. A number of prizes will be awarded in each category. The Award Ceremony will take place in The Library, St. Kevin's College, Clogher Road, Crumlin, Dublin 12 at 1.00pm Thursday March 29th 2012. Refreshments will be at 12.15pm.

Winners will be notified beforehand and participants and their parents will be welcome to attend. We urge our budding young poets and writers to work towards this celebration of their writing!

Entry: Students, please give your entry to your English teacher.

Teachers: I would be grateful if you could put up the attached poster on your students’ notice board.
