SCC PLC Battle of the Bands Music Competition 2011

Venue: Academy 2, Abbey Street, Dublin 1.

Now running for many years, the SCC PLC Battle of the Bands competition saw twelve aspiring young acts take to the The Academy stage. With prizes up for grabs, each ensemble had a couple of songs each to impress the judges with their own style and originality. The 12 finalists (Knuklehead, Electors, Joe and the Circus,, Column Inches, Appreci8, Section 8, Loyal Cuckoo, Zero Gravity, Red Snail, Culchie and the Sewer Rats) gathered in the The Academy to battle it out for some serious bragging rights. Though some of the bands in the running were more polished than others, every band up there played their hearts out on the night.

The Winners:

1st Place - Loyal Cuckoo

2nd Place - Zero Gravity

3rd Place - Appreci8

Overall, all of the bands at the SCC Battle of the Bands were excellent. I would definitely recommend checking them out if you can. They’re local and they’re around! It’s evident that these students can handle their instruments with professionalism.
