Our competition categories are Short Story, Poetry and Memoir and Screenplay. To ensure a level playing field, we offer categories of New Writer, Novice Writer and Open Writer in the Short Story and Poetry competitions.

A New Writer is someone new to writing in English (Adult Literacy or an international student with  an elementary knowledge of English).

A Novice Writer is one with a reasonable standard of written English but new to the creative writing process.

An Open Writer is a more accomplished, amateur writer. As always, we are asking our Open Short Story writers to write to a theme which may be implied in the story.  This year the theme for the Open Short Story is the The Child Within.

Below you can download posters for display in your College or Centre and entry forms with  guidelines. Please write your own name on the poster so that your students can contact you for information on the competition.

The deadline for receipt of entries is Friday 14th February 2020.
