VEC SCC MINOR BOYS 6-A-SIDE SOCCER BLITZ CUP FINAL
Larkin Community College 7
Kylemore College 2
Larkin Community College lifted the Minor Soccer Blitz Cup thanks to a Glen Lynch hat-trick and a brace from their inspirational captain Hayden Blake at last week’s final at Colaiste Ide in Finglas.
Tied at 1-1 and with half time approaching Blake’s spectacular double strike swung the game Larkin’s way. The Larkin captain’s first goal came from a well struck free before drilling home a low drive.
Lynch added Larkin’s fourth to lead 4-1 at the break. The Cherry Orchard player sealed his hat-trick with two further strikes in the second half either side of substitute Shane Rooney’s effort.
Kylemore had played their part in an absorbing match getting off to the perfect start when Chris Antonio’s pass set up Liam French.
The Palmerstown United player turned his marker before slotting home the opening goal in the third minute.
After being denied twice by excellent goal keeping from Kylemore’s Peter Maxwell Larkin’s Ryan Fay scored the equaliser with a long range shot before Blake’s double strike.
Kylemore went close in the second half through their playmaker Antonio and substitute Joseph Gorman before French scored his second of the match with the final kick of the game.
Larkin had booked their place in the final with an unbeaten run in the group stage while Kylemore finished second after beating their nearest challengers Colaiste Dhulaigh and Plunket College.
